Proudly owned and operated by Karen and Martyn Farmer, Wall Nook cottages are nestled on the edge of the English Lake District, in a tranquil setting overlooking the medieval village of Cartmel.
The property was originally a working farm, dating back to the early 1700’s. As a traditional farm in the South Lakes, it would have farmed predominantly sheep and cattle.
During the mid 1900’s the property was rented by author Arthur Ransome, famed for writing the Swallows and Amazons series of Children’s books. Along with his wife Evgenia Petrovna Shelepina.
In more recent times, the farm was lovingly converted into the dwellings of today over the past 15 years.
The rental cottages were originally a large barn, which was restored and re-designed into two separate cottages, Pheasant and Kestrel.
Your hosts Karen and Martyn Farmer, having lovingly restored the buildings over the past 30 years, with focus on the rental property since the early 2000’s.
Karen & Martyn live in the South Lakes, and enjoy the lifestyle which this part of the country affords it’s residents. Whilst undertaking a lot of travel for their work, Karen & Martyn enjoy nothing more than returning to the most beautiful part of the UK.
They look forward to welcoming you to either Kestral or Pheasant cottage, where they are certain you will enjoy the fruits of what has been a labour of love for the past three decades.
